Terms of Service
Use Whisper responsibly. Encryption protects conversation contents, but it does not remove your responsibility for what you send or store.1. Agreement and eligibility
By accessing Whisper, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. You must be legally able to enter this agreement and meet the minimum digital-consent age in your location. Access may also be subject to the rules of the workspace or organization that provides the deployment.
2. Accounts and devices
You are responsible for your account password, linked devices, recovery key, and activity performed through them. Keep verification, device-link, and recovery codes confidential, verify safety numbers through an independent channel, and promptly revoke devices you no longer control.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use Whisper to harm, harass, exploit, defraud, impersonate, distribute malware, violate privacy or intellectual-property rights, facilitate illegal activity, probe or disrupt the service, bypass rate limits or restrictions, automate spam, or access another person’s account or data without authorization.
4. Content and encryption
You retain rights in your content and grant the operator only the limited permission necessary to transmit and store its encrypted form. You are responsible for content you send and for maintaining lawful backups. End-to-end encryption means the operator generally cannot recover lost message keys, decrypt attachments, inspect message contents, or restore expired media.
5. Safety enforcement
Users may block and report accounts. The operator may apply rate limits, temporary restrictions, suspend access, preserve relevant metadata, or remove data when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or maintain service integrity. Restrictions may be reviewed through the site owner.
6. Third-party services
Hosting, verification-email delivery, optional Google authentication, and optional online GIF search rely on third-party services governed by their own terms. Whisper is not responsible for third-party content or availability. Provider-hosted GIF URLs do not receive the same encrypted-storage protection as locally attached GIF files.
7. Availability and changes
The service may change, experience interruptions, or discontinue features. Retention controls and backups reduce risk but do not guarantee that data will never be lost. Important information should not exist only in Whisper.
8. Disclaimers and liability
Whisper is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by law. It has not received a formal independent security audit and must not be used as the sole channel for life-safety, emergency, or other high-risk communications. Liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law; rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
9. Termination and governing terms
You may stop using Whisper at any time. The operator may restrict or terminate access for material or repeated violations, security risk, or legal necessity. The deployment owner must identify any applicable governing law, dispute forum, organization-specific terms, and contact details before offering the service broadly.
